People. Put your phones down.

I don’t have a rear camera, and don’t plan on getting one, so this video is just my reaction. I signaled, then slowed and stopped to turn onto my street. I look in my mirror and some dumbass in a Rogue is barreling straight towards me. It’s the only other car on the road, and could’ve changed lanes rather than stop at all. When I see that this person clearly isn’t looking up, I hit the horn. When I see them slam on the brakes and I can tell they’re not gonna stop in time, I pull forward.

Had I not moved, I would’ve been hit. Had I not honked, I probably would’ve been hit hard. Hopefully the person behind me got enough of a scare to make them drop their phone.

I give you major props for having that level of awareness. I doubt I would have seen that, much less realize I have to move forward.

I’ve lived here long enough for that turn to make me nervous. I’ve seen plenty of accidents there.

There should be a rear facing horn, along with rear facing high beams to flash people.

We kind of know them, but yeah they might’ve been confused.

Notice the double-wide driveway I was facing towards the end of the video? Yeah, the guy widened it a few years back so he wouldn’t have to street-park his trucks on the crest of a blind hill. The owners of the house I turned around in front of complained to the city that it was an eyesore and should have to be ripped up. So I guess you could say they’re uptight about their driveways.
